Cricket West Indies (CWI) is undergoing several organizational changes as it gears up for a significant year, which includes launching a new strategic plan for 2024-27 and hosting the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in June. These changes come amid rumors about contract terminations and exits within the organization.

Johnny Grave, CEO of CWI, explained that a thorough appraisal process was conducted to identify the best talent and create an environment conducive to excellence. As a result, some contracts have naturally concluded, including those of Dominic Warne, the Commercial, Marketing, and Communications Director, and Philip Spooner, the Media and Public Relations Manager. However, both Warne and Spooner will remain involved with CWI in new roles, focusing on the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

The CWI’s selection system is also undergoing changes. The terms of selectors Roland Butcher, Travis Dowlin, and Robert Haynes ended on December 31. They will not be immediately replaced, and the current lead selectors will continue under their existing contracts. This is part of CWI’s commitment to refining its selection processes to better meet the needs of West Indies cricket.

Additionally, after a four-year tenure, Coach Development Manager Chris Brabazon, an Australian, is returning to his home country for a new role. His time with CWI saw the introduction of a range of coaching courses and accreditations, leading to over 1,000 newly certified coaches in the region.

CWI has announced that it will soon begin the recruitment process for a new Commercial Director and Coach Development Manager. These changes are part of CWI’s ongoing efforts to enhance its structure and performance, particularly in a year with such significant events on the horizon.
