[Brooklyn, New York] – February 21, 2024 – Local attorney Chevanev Charles was officially admitted to the New York Bar on February 21, 2024. The admission ceremony, held before the Appellate Division, Supreme Court of the State of New York, Second Judicial Department, marked a significant milestone in Mr. Charles’ legal career.
In a ceremony presided over by esteemed judges, including Hon. Angela Iannacci, Hon. Paul Wooten, Hon. Linda Christopher, and Hon. Larry Love, he took the oath of admissions along with several other attorneys, pledging to uphold the principles of justice and integrity.
A native of Buccament Bay, Mr. Charles expressed his gratitude to his family, friends, and colleagues for their unwavering support throughout his journey. He credited his success to the grace of God and the steadfast encouragement and support of his loving wife, Mrs. Nneka Charles. Mr. Charles also extended his appreciation to his parents, Former Minister Maxwell Charles and Former Deputy High Commissioner Dr. Doris Charles, for instilling in him values of perseverance and resilience.
In addition to his family, Mr. Charles recognized the invaluable support of his Church family at the Layou, Kingstown and New Dimension Seventh-Day Adventist church, as well as colleagues and friends, including Director of Maritime Administration Mr. Hyrone Johnson, Mrs. Ranelle Roberts, and his current Director, Ms Shulamis Shapiro. He also expressed his gratitude to the SVG Bar Association for their assistance in supporting his application to the NY Court.
As an in-house Immigration Attorney for the Council of Jewish Organizations of Flatbush, he serves a diverse clientele in Brooklyn, New York. His expertise extends beyond immigration law, catering to US, Canadian and Vincentian clients in various legal matters. With a background in maritime law and an inclination for expanding his horizons, Mr. Charles continues to broaden his expertise across different areas of law including estate planning, probate, civil litigation and personal injury.
