A French national, Heyse Celine, reported missing in Grenada’s Grand Etang Forest Reserve, has been found safe, officials confirmed. Celine, a passenger on the Costa Fortuna cruise ship, ventured into the forest without a guide and got lost while seeking a waterfall. After two nights in the mountains, she was rescued Wednesday morning.
Mathias Dorel, the French Honorary Consul in Grenada, detailed Celine’s ordeal, noting she had sustained cuts, bruises, and exhaustion. She managed to contact her daughter in France, who alerted the cruise line, local police, and Dorel, prompting a search operation. Arrangements are underway for Celine’s return to France.
Grenadian police had circulated a missing person report for the 51-year-old and sought assistance from local accommodations in the search. In a crucial development, a drone used in the search efforts located Celine in the Birchgrove area, near the Grand Etang Forest Reserve. She has since been taken to the hospital for treatment.
