Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit of Dominica has asserted that the citizens of Dominica have gained the most benefits from the Citizenship By Investment (CBI) Program compared to any other country. He emphasized this point during a recent press conference, highlighting the tangible impacts of the program in Dominica.
According to Skerrit, the CBI Program has visibly transformed the country, with significant investments in housing, infrastructure, and other developmental projects. He cited examples like the construction of 382 homes in Bellevue Chopin and over 100 homes in Grandbay, as well as new water systems and community development projects in Castle Bruce and San Sauveur. These homes, he noted, cost an average of $350,000 each, playing a crucial role in lifting people out of poverty.
Skerrit emphasized the government’s commitment to improving living standards, mentioning the substantial financial aid provided to citizens for home repairs, especially after hurricanes, with an average of $60,000 per household. Additionally, he pointed out low-interest loans for sectors like manufacturing, agriculture, and small businesses, made available through the CBI funds.
The Prime Minister also highlighted other CBI-funded projects, including new healthcare facilities, educational opportunities for students studying abroad, and the National Employment Program, which significantly contributes to employment and community service.
A key aspect of the CBI’s impact is its funding of the Geothermal Project, aimed at ensuring energy security and reducing energy costs, thereby fostering further investment in Dominica. Skerrit’s remarks underscore the critical role of the CBI Program in Dominica’s socio-economic development.
